Maya Ellis

Maya Ellis is the Ribble Valley Labour  Member of Parliament.

Maya is focused on helping young people, families, and all our diverse communities feel safe, supported, and empowered to live their best lives.

Maya grew up in the Ribble Valley and now lives here with her husband and two small children, so she knows our communities inside and out. Her work in local government has involved regular conversations with civil servants in Westminster to bring much-needed funding to our area, giving her a solid understanding of how to make the government work better for us.

She loves our area, from her gym in Walton-le-Dale to family days out in the villages, towns and countryside we’re so lucky to have her represetning us in Parliament. Maya is committed to ensuring that everyone, from Fulwood to Mellor and from Bamber Bridge to West Bradford, feels represented in the work of this Labour government.

Maya cares deeply for the people here and believes we can achieve so much more with her as the dedicated and determined Labour MP that Ribble Valley deserves.

Working People

Maya Ellis will deliver Labour’s New Deal for Working People, ensuring that those in work are truly valued as the engine of the country. She will collaborate with the government, unions, and employers of all sizes to ensure that work is rewarding, people are treated fairly, and jobs become places where individuals can thrive, not just survive.

Families and Health

Maya recognizes the need for affordable childcare and Sure Start-type networks to help families navigate the cost of living crisis. She is committed to revitalizing the NHS to provide reliable care for both the young and the elderly, ensuring that families are not left to shoulder the burden of inadequate healthcare.

Young People

The area’s once-thriving youth programs have suffered from ongoing funding cuts. Maya will fight to restore safe, inspiring spaces for young people to meet, be active, and express their creativity. She will also promote community cohesion through volunteering, encouraging intergenerational friendships.

Housing

Investing in affordable housing is crucial to ensuring everyone has a safe place to sleep at night. Maya will advocate for adequate infrastructure, including roads, schools, and health services, to support the growing populations in Ribble Valley. She will ensure that the area always has a seat at the table for sensible long-term development planning.

Investment

With Lancashire’s new devolution deal, it is essential that Ribble Valley reaps the benefits. Maya sees immense potential in local businesses and aims to attract more young talent to the area. This includes improving community and cultural offerings in the region’s vibrant towns.

Our Planet

Flooding and potholes are increasingly affecting our communities, while global temperatures continue to rise. Maya will hold big businesses accountable for sustainable operations, enhance environmental education so that everyone can contribute, and support farming communities in their efforts to become more sustainable.
