Ribble Valley Labour Party have selected Karl Barnsley as its candidate for Ribchester in this May’s Ribble Valley Borough and parish council elections.

Barnsley – a former County Council candidate (Longridge with Bowland 2020) and Secretary of Ribble Valley Constituency Labour Party and Chairman of Ribble Valley Branch Labour Party – will contest the seat this May and has already been extremely active within the Ribchester community.

Speaking about his selection as candidate Karl said,

“I’m looking forward to offering Ribchester a strong choice to be the representative residents deserve and holding the Tories to account for their follies.”

A Bowland High School and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Sixth Form alumni, Karl is a passionate and active local campaigner who has lived in the Ribble Valley all of his life.

Committed to the causes which matter, Karl understands that the needs of the country are the needs of local people. Improving transport is both a national issue and a local issue. Affordable housing for those who live in the area is a national and local issue. Protecting the environment is an international issue and also a local issue. Karl will fight to protect Ribchester and the country from the dangers of flooding, fracking and further Tory faults. Karl loves sport, loves culture and loves the Ribble Valley.

Ribble Valley Labour Party members are urged to check their email inboxes and our events here to help Karl on the campaign trail.
