Ribble Valley CLP are delighted to announce an International Women’s Day Event that will be held on Zoom on 12th March 2022.

The event will host a wide range of speakers, discussing an even wider range of topics that may affect and/or appeal to you!

11:00 – 11:10 – Welcome 

11:10 – 11:30 – Christine Bradley on “Wild Swimming Women” and Q&As

“Swimming was my thing as a youngster.  LIttle did I know the journey ahead of me would change things for a long time….   in 1978 my swimming went on hold until I was almost 50!  Physical and mental scars, breakups, confidence, overthinking, generally life’s hurdles – Mental health, as it is referred to today,  and dipping my toe into cold water meant new adventures were to be unleashed away from the chlorine filled pool and life’s childhood dreams were to come.  In 2017 I swam the English Channel, I now also work as a Mental Health Coach.  Don’t Give Up On Your Dreams!”

Recently elected as a Councillor in November 2021, Councillor Clare will be doing a speech on her experiences as a councillor, being a part of South Ribble Council and giving us a bit of an idea about her background before this.

11:50 – 13:00 – Lunch Break

13:00 – 13:10 – Welcome Back

13:10 – 13:30 – Mayor and Councillor Jane Bell on “Being A Mayor” and Q&As

Mayor and Councillor Jane Bell will be giving a talk on her experiences of being mayor, what duties she has had to tell as well as giving us a bit of an idea about her background before this.

13:30 – 13:50 – Tracey Hopkins on “The Impact Of Austerity And The Pandemic On Women” and Q&As

Tracey Hopkins will be giving a speech on how and why the impact of both austerity and the pandemic have affected women and particularly single mothers during these turbulent past years.

13:50 – 14:10 – Emma Stevens on “Misogyny And Its Makers”

Emma Stevens will be giving the final speech of the day discussing various areas of misogyny and how they not only impact women, but everyone.

14:10 – 14:30 – Ruth Colbridge on “Personal Responsibility / Nature Based Solutions”

Ruth Colbridge will be giving the final speech of the day around the impact of what might happen under a personal responsibility agenda as well as touching on nature based solutions.

14:30 – 14:40 – Goodbyes and Further Information
